February 28, 1997 is a date in our local history that many Southern California residents will never forget.  On that day, 16 years ago, the LAPD faced off against two heavily armed and armored bank robbers.

By the time the shooting was finally over, the two robbers were killed, and many people were injured- including 11 officers and 7 civilians.

Because of the number of people wounded, the amount of rounds that were fired, the weapons used, and the length of time that elapsed, it is seen as one of the longest and bloodiest events in our country's police history.
