In a follow up to a story that Tanya Hart brought attention to, the New Orleans police and federal authorities have announced that they are searching for a young man who is suspected of opening fire at a Mother's Day parade in New Orleans, wounding 19…

Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas identified the suspect late Monday as Akein Scott, 19, of New Orleans. Referring to blurry surveillance camera images of the mass shooting, Serpas said police have "multiple identifications of Akein Scott as the shooter" seen in the film.

Serpas said officers would be searching all night and into Tuesday for Scott, whom he called "no stranger to the criminal justice system." He urged the teen, who has previous arrests on firearms and drug charges, to give himself up.

In the case of Philadelphiaabortion doctor Kermit Gosnell, now that the verdict is in, hopefully sentencing won’t be far behind!

On Monday (5-13-13) Dr. Kermit Gosnell was found guilty of first-degree murder and could face execution in the deaths of three babies who authorities say were delivered alive and then killed with scissors at his grimy clinic, in a case that became a flashpoint in the nation's debate over abortion.

Dr. Gosnell, 72, was also found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the drug-overdose death of a patient who had undergone an abortion. He was cleared in the death of a fourth baby, who prosecutors say let out a soft whimper before he snipped its neck.

The jury will return May 21 to hear evidence on whether Gosnell should get the death penalty.

Pedro Castro and Onil Castro gave CNN an exclusive interview about their 52-year-old brother, who is accused of kidnapping three women—Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus—holding them captive in his west Cleveland home and raping them repeatedly over a decade. Berry's 6-year-old daughter, who police say was fathered by Ariel Castro, was also rescued from the home.

The women had several miscarriages during their captivity, police said.

"I don't know how my brother got away with it for so many years," Pedro Castro, 54, told CNN's Martin Savidge. "If I knew, I would have reported it—brother or no brother.”

Most of the victims were grazed, including the children, but three people were reported in serious condition. Both children were in good condition.

The FBI attributed the incident to "street violence," not terrorism. 

The victims were in the "second line" -- the name for the informal street parades that regularly wind through New Orleans behind marching bands and dancers. The idiosyncratic local tradition has sometimes stirred debate in the city after shootings marred previous events.

A new petition created by Parents and Teens alike are calling for clothing store Abercrombie & Fitch to - "Stop telling teens they aren’t beautiful and start making clothes for people of all shapes and sizes!"

That’s the message of a new Change.org petition calling for people to boycott fashion retailer Abercrombie & Fitch until CEO Mike Jeffries offers plus-sizes to consumers. Florida native Benjamin O’Keefe, 18, who described struggling with an eating disorder and feeling “worthless” because he couldn’t fit into popular clothing styles, created the petition on Tuesday.

As of Thursday afternoon, the petition, which increased momentum with the support of the National Eating Disorders Association, garnered over 1,600 signatures, needing only 372 more to reach its goal.

In a shocking revelation reports have come out that one of the authors of a Heritage Foundation report that panned a Senate plan to overhaul the nation's immigration laws argued in his doctoral dissertation that immigrants generally have lower IQs than the "native white population" of the United States.

Jason Richwine, who received his doctorate in public policy from Harvard in 2009 and joined the conservative Heritage Foundation in 2012, wrote in his dissertation titled "IQ and Immigration Policy" that immigrants in the U.S. have lower IQs than native Americans, and that that difference "is likely to persist over several generations."

E-cigarettes, invented in 2003, currently account for less than 1% of the $80 billion U.S.cigarette market. But they are growing rapidly: UBS projects that sales, which have doubled every year since 2008, will reach $1 billion in 2013. Numbers like that have put Big Tobacco on notice.

“Consumption of e-cigs may overtake traditional cigarettes in the next decade,” predicts Wells Fargo analyst Bonnie Herzog. “And they’ll only evolve and improve as time goes forward — at far less risk. The technology portion of it is sort of like Apple. This is just Version 1.”

Seven people are under arrest in the U.S. in connection with the case, which prosecutors said involved thousands of thefts from ATMs using bogus magnetic swipe cards carrying information from Middle Eastern banks. The fraudsters moved with astounding speed to loot financial institutions around the world, working in cells including one in New York, Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch said.

One of the suspects was caught on surveillance cameras, his backpack increasingly loaded down with cash, authorities said. Others took photos of themselves with giant wads of bills as they made their way up and down Manhattan.
