If the voting public is any indication, Mark Sanford is living proof that life is full of second chances...

The former Republican governor of South Carolina, whose political career was left for dead along the Appalachian Trail after an extramarital affair, asked for, and Tuesday received, political redemption as he won a special election to fill a vacant House seat that he once occupied.

"I want to acknowledge a God not just of second chances but third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth chances, because that is the reality of our shared humanity," Sanford said at his victory celebration after defeating his Democratic opponent, Elizabeth Colbert Busch. "I am one imperfect man saved by God's grace."

And at a news conference minutes later, Sanford added that "I think we're always on the search for redemption and I think this is certainly a degree of political redemption."

Marco Rubio has more than ruffled the feathers of long time supporters who feel betrayed by his new stance on immigration…

Wearing a 2010 vintage Marco Rubio campaign T-shirt and matching button, Cheryl Griffin spewed frustration that the man she helped win a long-shot conservative bid for Senate is now leading an immigration overhaul.

An evening downpour was falling on this coastal town, less a city than a hodgepodge of new and old subdivisions. But the weather did not deter Griffin, a small, skeptical woman, or her husband, Mark, a friendly man twice her size with rain dripping from his straw cowboy hat.

The Griffins, who came down from neighboring Fort Pierce, were protesting Rubio's appearance at the annual Republican Party dinner. One poster, echoing an epithet used by a local talk show host, decried him as "Mr. Amnestyman."

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a possible 2016 presidential candidate who has gone on record as saying his weight doesn’t slow him and shouldn’t bar him from seeking the presidency has in fact undergone secret weight-loss surgery in February, according to a political adviser and a spokesman.

The first-term Republican, who is seeking re-election in November, was motivated by his wife and four children to have gastric banding, not by the possibility of running for president, adviser Michael DuHaime said. The Feb. 16 procedure lasted 40 minutes and Christie was home in the afternoon, according to the New York Post.

The Post was the first to report the governor’s weight loss surgery. Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for Christie, confirmed the story and declined to comment further. Read More At Bloomberg

Picture a grim police line-up with five young African American men in stereotypical "thug" garb, and a goat. That's just the opening shot.

PepsiCo has announced it is pulling its new ad for Moutain Dew after a storm of criticism this week. Social commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins wrote on his blog that the spot was "arguably the most racist commercial in history." He continues, "Mountain Dew has set a new low for corporate racism. Their decision to lean on well-known racial stereotypes is beyond disgusting. This doesn't even include the fact that the company has put black men on par with animals."

The one-minute ad shows a badly beaten blonde Caucasian woman approaching the line-up on crutches. A white male warden says, "We got 'em all lined up, nail the little sucker." The goat, in a raspy male voice bullies her with phrases, "keep your mouth shut, I'm going to do ya when I get out," "ya better not snitch on a playa'," and "snitches, get stitches, fool." The woman becomes hysterical and runs from the room. As the ad ends, you can hear her screaming off-screen.

Pro-Gun advocates have crossed the line in their latest campaign for gun rights!

Two billboards in which images of Native Americans are used to make a gun rights argument are causing a stir with some Colorado residents who say the image is offensive and
insensitive.

The billboards in this northern Colorado city show three men dressed in traditional Native
American attire and the words "Turn in your arms. The government will take care of you."

Greeley resident Kerri Salazar, who is of Native American descent, said she was livid when she learned about it. She said she doesn't have a problem with the gun rights message, but she's offended the Native American people were singled out, apparently without their consent.

"I think we all get that (Second Amendment) message. What I don't understand is how an organization can post something like that and not think about the ripple effect that it's
gonna have through the community," she said.
