Former President Bill Clinton gave a rousing endorsement of fellow Democrat Barack Obama in his first 2012 campaign appearance with the president on Sunday night, and helped him raise more than $2 million.

A white-haired and svelte Clinton, 65, pounded the podium and pointed at the crowd while addressing about 500 Obama supporters outside the Virginia home of his friend and Democratic adviser Terry McAuliffe.

"I think he's done a good job," he told the crowd in his signature raspy voice, warmly introducing the man who beat his wife, Hillary Clinton, to win the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination and then made her secretary of state. "We are going the right direction under President Obama's leadership."

Clinton's support could be pivotal for Obama's efforts to raise money and to sell voters on his economic plans, which Republicans have denounced as fiscally reckless and rooted in populism instead of good business sense.

Clinton oversaw one of the most prosperous times in recent American history and managed to balance the federal budget, something Democrats are keen to remind voters before the November 6 election.

Maryland has a Mega Millions mystery on its hands.

A McDonald's worker claims to have one of the three winning tickets selected in Friday's drawing, but a Maryland lottery official told FoxNews.com early Monday that no one has produced the winning ticket. Making matters even murkier, the woman later seemed unsure if her numbers matched the $656 million jackpot. "We have nothing to substantiate anything," said Carole Everett, a spokeswoman's for Maryland Lottery. "We're getting no calls."

Each one-third share of the record-breaking prize is worth $105 million after taxes, and officials have said winners were drawn in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland. Neither of the other two winning ticket holders has stepped forward, either.

"We can't wait to greet the winner of this world-record setting jackpot," said Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino. That ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven in Milford. The McDonald's worker who claims to hold the ticket, Mirlande Wilson, 37, has said she bought tickets for 15 co-workers, but that the winner was bought separately and she won't share the money.

MasterCard is investigating a possible breach of cardholder account data involving a U.S.-based payment processor, the company said Friday.

"As a result, we have alerted payment card issuers regarding certain MasterCard accounts that are potentially at risk," the Purchase, N.Y., credit-card company said in a statement.

Law enforcement officials have been notified of the matter and an "independent data security organization" is conducting an ongoing forensic review. The U.S. Secret Service is investigating the breach, a spokesman said Friday.

The company is alerting card-issuing banks regarding "certain MasterCard accounts that are potentially at risk."

"MasterCard's own systems have not been compromised in any manner," the statement continued.

A MasterCard spokesman declined to say how many cards may have been compromised or how many banks it is notifying, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The breach was first reported early Friday by Krebs On Security, a blog by former Washington Post reporter Brian Krebs. The blog also reported that Visa was also notifying banks about a breach involving a third-party payment processor.

Representatives for Visa couldn't immediately be reached for comment Friday morning, the Wall Street Journal reports.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Despite efforts at Los Angeles City Hall to track the use of taxpayer-purchased fuel, more than $7 million in gasoline and other fuel has gone missing in recent years, City Controller Wendy Greuel said today.

During a morning news conference to release her audit of the city's fuel use, Greuel said that some of the missing gasoline may have been used for personal vehicles. At dozens of city fueling sites, millions of gallons of fuel was pumped without any record of where it went, the audit showed.

Greuel accused Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Council members and city department heads of being ``asleep at the switch.''

The unexplained transactions happened despite a $12 million fuel tracking system put in place more than a decade ago. Greuel said the review of five city departments -- the Convention Center, Housing Department, Recreation and Parks and the fire and police departments -- showed they don't effectively use the system to monitor employees.

``The best case scenario of this audit is that department managers did a poor job in keeping records of the fuel. Worst case scenario is that there's theft of the city's resources,'' said Greuel, who is running for mayor.

Every year the city spends close to $29 million buying about 14 million gallons of gasoline, natural gas and diesel fuel to power vehicles including garbage trucks, helicopters and police cruisers. There are tracking systems, but they can be bypassed, either manually or with so-called ``master cards'' assigned to each of the city's 141 fuel sites.

VAN NUYS (CNS) Singer Bobby Brown, ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston, was charged today with three misdemeanor counts stemming from his Monday arrest in the San Fernando Valley on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Brown was charged with one count each of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08 percent and driving on a suspended license, according to Frank Mateljan of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

Arraignment is scheduled April 16 in Van Nuys Superior Court.

The 43-year-old singer was arrested about 12:20 p.m. Monday at Victory Boulevard and Wilbur Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Harris.

SANFORD, Fla., March 22 (UPI) -- Sanford, Fla., police chief Bill Lee Jr. Thursday stepped down "temporarily" as the outcry mounted over the shooting of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.

The action came as marches were planned in numerous cities to protest the shooting of the 17-year-old black teenager and the police decision against arresting self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.

"My role as the leader of this agency has become a distraction from the investigation," Lee said in a statement. "It is apparent that my involvement in this matter is overshadowing the process.

"Therefore, I have come to the decision that I must temporarily relieve myself from the position as police chief for the city of Sanford."

Lee said he hopes his action will "restore some semblance of calm," the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The city commission refused to give a vote of confidence to Lee Wednesday night; however, City Manager Norton Bonaparte told ABC News he would not decide on whether or not to dismiss Lee until the investigation into Martin's death was completed.

Martin was shot and killed Feb. 25 in a confrontation with Zimmerman, who said he fired in self-defense.
