Disney is buying Lucasfilm from moviemaker George Lucas for $4.05 billion -- and will release a new "Star Wars" movie in 2015.

Disney announced the agreement to make the purchase in cash and stock yesterday (Tuesday).

They also announced that "Star Wars: Episode 7" is slated for release in 2015.... and there will be two new movies after that.

George Lucas will be a "creative consultant" on all new "Star Wars" films.

He said, "For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see 'Star Wars' passed from one generation to the next. It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I've always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime."
