Since James Franco is involved with such a wide array of stuff — between the short story collection, the performance art, a dance EP, all of that grad school, oh, and the acting thing — it probably isn’t surprising to hear that Franco (alongside musician Tim O’Keefe) will put out a record as Daddy. What may be surprising — again, depending on your capacity for surprise when it comes to Franco’s goings-on — is that it’s heavily Motown-influenced, owing to Franco’s time in Detroit filming Oz: The Great and Powerful. Today they put out the Instragram-feed-meets-kaleidoscope visual for the retro-grooving, mostly spoken-world single called “Love In The Old Days.” There’s a vague “Everybody Is Free (To Wear Sunscreen)” vibe but other than that it’s totally listenable.
